TinMan Bike Course – Change !

As mentioned earlier in the week, due to the road resurfacing work that is continuing along the A442, we have had to make the decision to alter the cycle route for both the Sprint and Super Sprint Tinman Triathlons on Sunday. Both now involve an ‘out and back’ route that avoids the A442 altogether – which in many respects makes the route much simpler.

The following links show the maps for both the original and new courses, so you can compare. There are also maps in the attachment that show the changes.

Bike route changes

Sprint Triathlon

Original course (20.8km)

New course (19.1km)

Super Sprint Triathlon

Original course (12.2km)

New course (11.3km)

New Sprint Bike Route notes:

There is a filter-lane for the right turn in Shawbirch – this will be clearly signed and marshalled.

There is a mini-roundabout to cycle around at the turn-around point – this will be marshalled.

The rest of the course is as it was originally.

New Super Sprint Bike Route notes:

There is a filter-lane for the right turn in Shawbirch – this will be clearly signed and marshalled.

There is a filter-lane for the right turn into ‘Long Lane’ – this will be clearly signed and marshalled.

After 100m down Long Lane there will be a cone around which to complete a dead turn – this will also be marshalled (and traffic free).

The rest of the course is as it was originally.

Clearly these circumstances are beyond our control, but we have been forced to make the decision in order to maintain the integrity of the event and safety for all of our competitors.
